Are cat-eyes back? Just look to the fall runways...

Who doesn’t like cats? Okay... so a lot of people don’t. But I for one share a healthy dose of adoration for our feline friends.

Cats are well groomed, they know what they want, and perhaps their most winning feature is their large, curious, winged-out eyes.

Lucky then that one of the biggest beauty trends to sweep through the past few fashion week’s was the resurgence of large statement eyelids. Everyone from Chloé to Gucci was sporting this resurrected makeup trend.

Here are some of the best looks to recreate:

Dolce and Gabbana Fall 2013

It was all about a simple and clean fluid line.

Gucci Fall 2013

The cat-eye silhouette was created by blending plum eyeshadow right up to the brow bone.

 Anna Sui Fall 2013

Black eyeliner was drawn neatly all over the eye-lid and flicked to the side. The addition of eyeliner dabbed onto the bottom lash-line gave this cat-eye a baby doll twist.

Michael Kors Fall 2013

Smoky black eyeshadow was concentrated on the outer edges of the eyelids.

Lanvin Fall 2013

Lanvin gave the cat-eye sci-fi appeal by lining both the upper and lower lash-line with eyeliner and then drawing the pencil along the top brown bone, to make the eyes appear even bigger.

Which makeup look was your favourite?

The French Edit

Paris, it’s the city of love. And it comes in so many forms. Love for its architecture? Love for its food? Love for its fashion? Or love for its romances, the city is known for playing cupid, bringing lovers together...

I know I love all of the above. But another of my infatuations is with its beauty products.

We all have heard of French pharmacies that provide its women with formulation you just can’t find anywhere else in the world. Glamorous globe trotters are known to stock up on products like Avibon anti-aging cream and Bioderma Crealine H2O Cleanser so that when they get home they re-equipped with lotions that will help with a plethora of beauty ailments.

It’s not just these hard to find cosmetics that I lust over. It’s there easy to access products that I swoon over regularly. In this post I have created a French edit of the best beauty products that were dreamt up in the land of love. The products must have been injected with this feel good emotion because as soon as they make contact with my face, skin, lips or lashes they never want to part.

In this gorgeous Lanvin makeup bag, I have filled it with the best French products that you can source at your closest David Jones or Myer store!

Summer luxe list

I’ve been really excited about summer arriving this year, already envisioning lazy days in the sun reading Mills and Boon books (tacky I know, but just like trash TV, it helps your brain to switch off)  and parading about in easy to wear separates, preferably on a tropical resort somewhere.

I feel as though I think this every time the season rolls around (I’m one of those people who suffer from S.A.D, very aptly named, the acronym meaning Seasonal Affected Disorder, I’m more happy in the sunshine due to increased vitamin D levels in the warmer months), but I’m almost 100% sure I’m more excited than normal.

Let’s put it down to the fact that here, in Aus, we didn’t really get a summer last year. It was more a tropical gloom that settled upon us. This year the weather reports are in and it seems like we’re destined for lots of sun and beach ridden days.

In celebration of this, I’ve selected luxe fashion pieces, all with a distinct summery edge. Think fun clutches with a side of quirk, bold shorts, white throw on tees with a hint of glamour, and soft leather sandals perfect to take you from hotel room to pool-side sun bed.
Enjoy this selection, keep in mind these are all luxe and selected from my online wish list, better known as Net-a-porter.

Enjoy!
