Winter makeup to me has always consisted of berry tones,
matte skin and sultry eyes – even for day.
Yet when searching for an A-lister
that got the beauty formula right, I was struggling to find one. Like most of us, celebs were holding onto tropical hues like fuchsia
lips and pop-bright eyeliners.
She pulled back her hair into a chic low pony with
side-part. She wore a terracotta lipstick with as much glossiness as a jar of
quince paste, and she had eyelashes that were naturally long and thick.
Here are the products you will need this season, so stash
away your neon chubby crayons and embrace velvety foundation, chocolate berry
lips and bronzed-out lids!
The chicest winter
hairstyle that will take you less time than making a bowl of 2-minute noodles!
Comb your hair until all your locks are uniform. Find out
whether your hair sits better on the right or left side by experiments – it will
be obvious when looking in the mirror what looks best. Use a fine tooth comb
like the 6 inch variation from Mason Person, to divide a side part. Take Tigi’s
Catwalk Series Finishing Hairspray and spritz 30cm away from your scalp and comb
into your low pony with a bristled hair brush.
Chocolate berry-toned
makeup...
To start this amazing makeup transformation choose a foundation
that offers a velvety finish but still hydrates the skin to stop the nasties of
wind chapping on your cheeks! Because Bossie is the latest face of SKII I had
to check out what she would have worn to create her seamless skin.
The answer is SK-II Stem Power Cream Foundation. It’s an anti-ageing compact foundation
that features three blended layers of foundation, niacinamide to help hydrate
the skin (see no chapped cheeks!) and with spf 20 – it’s not a bad buy!
Carefully blend all over the face and neck for best results.
Next up - the brows! I always like to frame the
face first with a great set of bold yet beautiful arches. Ardell’s Brow
Defining Powder uses a dose of concentrated pigments to create naturally
defined brows that don’t look overly drawn in. With short, light strokes apply
powder starting at the inner corner of the eyebrow, following the natural arch.
Filling in your brows during winter, when your skin is a few shades lighter is
particularly beautiful.
Now that
you’re done with brows head south and decorate those lids. After looking at
Bossie’s eye’s for some time (not a total punish!) it’s obvious that she isn’t
wearing heavy eye shadow, but a pigment that is sheer yet buildable. To
replicate this look use Jane Iredale Eye Gloss for instant yet long-lasting
rich colour. The inbuilt macadamia nut oil keep lids hydrated throughout the
day. Look to Champagne Silk or Brown Silk and carefully blend with your index
finger on your upper lid till you achieve the right depth of colour. Swipe a
little under your lower lash line to finish.
Love her
lashes? Me too. I’m also a little envious – she isn’t wearing any falsies
despite her red carpet appearance, yet her lashes still are eye-catching enough
to gain attention. If your lashes are a little lack-lustre of late you have to
try Love Those Lashes Dual Mascara and Lash Tonic.
This
mascara was specifically created for those who wear eye makeup daily and are
seeing the toll when they look in the mirror. Apply the tonic to the top and
bottom lashes to increase blood circulation, which promotes rapid growth and
strengthens the lashes. The actual mascara on the other end of the rod will
give you gorgeous fanned out lashes as well, while the tonic works lengthening-wonders
during your wear.
Now it’s
time to contour. Perhaps the best buy you can look to for an iconic bronzer and
blusher is the NARS Blush/Bronzer duo is Orgasm and Laguna. Both are natural
looking hues and will deliver the subtle glow that’s noticeable on Bossie’s
face. Gently contour under the cheekbones with Laguna and then add a little
orgasm to the apples of the cheeks.
Winter choc-berry
lips need not look so hard. A go-to shade I quickly whip out when wanting to
create an earthy-toned lip is Sisley Paris Hydrating Long-Lasting lipstick in Chestnut.
It literally screams ‘cosy-time’ with this deep decadent hue. Apply one coat
neatly with a lipstick brush (you don’t want any messy lip-lines with this
standout hue) blot with a tissue, then apply one last glossy swipe.
Will you
give this winter beauty look a whirl?
