The rise of the bralette

It seems any fashionista worth hunting down online is sporting one particular summer trend. Call it tacky, but showing off the sides of a lacy bra is now fashion du jour.

We’ve all seen the chic images that have us tracking down delicate bralette online, (grey loose fitted tank top with the slightest lacy undergarment noticeable under the arms), there is a fine line between getting this look right however.

The bralette boxes that must be ticked before it can be dubbed high end:
  • The bralette should be made from a delicate textile (with lace you can never go wrong)
  • Thin straps are a must (you can not pull off this look if it seems like you are wearing a sports bra under a B-ball tank)
  • Straps in most cases shouldn’t be seen (we only want to see the side section of the bra, hence why most bralettes feature wide side panels in a luxe fabric.
  • Stick to darker shades or pastel bights to keep this look on trend (Beige is a colour to stay clear off)

Sara Donaldson, the beauty and brains behind online sensation, Harper and Harley, got the look right whilst shopping on a recent trip in New York.

Here are my picks that feature both splurge worthy and totally affordable pieces:

  1. Cosabella
  2. Top Secret
  3. Deborah Marquit
  4. Topshop
  5. Tobi
  6. Reverse Faux Leather Sweetheart Bandea
This is a completely accessible trend to try out for anyone, so have some fun with this.
